Apple's new MacBook Air (M1, 2020) and MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1) look amazing, but one ability they lose versus their predecessors is support for Boot Camp and the ability to run Windows 10 natively. Feb 22, 2021 Unfortunately, if you want to run Windows 10 on your Mac, you'll need to purchase a license from Microsoft. If you've used a PC in the past, you may not be familiar with this since Windows tends to come preinstalled.

I installed Windows 10 (April 18 update) on external SSD drive that can be selected on the iMac's startup. Run the Boot Camp Windows Support Software and everything is fine, Apple mouse & keyboard, except audio is missing. Windows 10 Device Manager app does not show any problems with the drivers such as yellow triangles or red crosses. In fact, when a video is played the green volumen bars in the audio device driver properties move but there is no sound at all.

  • iMac is the latest 2019 model.
  • Windows 10 is up to date according to Windows update app (had to use April 18 update as start version since the installation does not work with October 18 version).
  • Drivers are update to date according to Windows.
  • Installed Windows 10 on external SDD following these instructions: https://blog.macsales.com/40947-tech-tip-how-to-use-boot-camp-on-an-external-drive, https://medium.com/@svenkirsime/install-windows-on-the-external-ssd-hdd-for-your-mac-5d29eefe5d1, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=910Y1hLreRc&t=117s.

Dear all

Macbook Running Windows 10

I bought one month ago a MacBookAir for programming in Xcode.

I also want to use still VisualStudio, so I installed Windows 10 (new to my, first use) with bootcamp.

Everything in windows seems to work OK,

Is microsoft and apple the same.

except,

Vu meter software.

When I am Working in Windows my cpu temp is rising within 10 minutes to 79-83°C and stabilizes when I am doing nothing. Just start up with the windows partition and running a temperature monitoring software, which I have installed after noticing that my Mac became extremely hot.

When I start to do some things, like for example I downloaded Visual studio and installed it, the cpu temperature mounted until 92°C.

The strange thing is that I don't hear the Cooling Fan Blowing Faster when temperature increases.

When restarting and using the MacHD partition and working with the OSX the temperature of the CPU drops immediately down. I do not even need to monitor it, because after 30 minutes the MAC is at room temperature, so I don't feel any heat at all. Not even when I start working intensively with it. For example making and testing programs in Xcode.

Can anyone please be so kind to help me find out why my MAC heats up so extremely when running Windows 10?
